YKBSG Achievements

The Group’s Achievements To-date

The love of God is marvelous. It has not been easy to be where we are at present. The Lord’s Spirit had countered one’s own self and asked him to arise and do His work.  Jonah 1:1-2 “Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying” 2; “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before me.” Right from the time the group started in 2005, many more achievements have been realized positively towards endurance, perseverance and persistence to the word of God as highlighted below:-

1.                  Now twenty (20) members have been recruited. The recruitment is made through house to house visitation and sharing of the wonderful word of God together. Any member who is interested is freely allowed to join the group but the following SHOULD be adhered to:

a.        One SHOULD read and understand our belief and mission statement (We are a none-denominational and non-profit group that beliefs in what has been highlighted in the “Our Belief”).But more importantly, we encourage each and every one to pray for the spiritual guidance to understand what kind of doctrinal beliefs one is entering unto. For Jesus said in John 7: 17 “If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority

b.      One SHOULD create time for the word of God; not only thinking and spending much of the time to acquiring riches of this world. Mark 10: 23 “Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples,How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the Kingdom of God”.

c.       One SHOULD be devoted to fasting and praying towards various group needs. Prayer is the only true way to communicate to our Almighty. Jesus prayed throughout His encounter in the world.  Luke 6:12 “Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God”.

d.      One SHOULD take part in the group’s activities as spelt in our objectives.

e.       Finally, everybody MUST take part in the group discussions as led by the Holy Spirit.

f.        Fill our agreement questionnaire that has promises one undertakes to the Lord and also to the group.

2.                  We have identified two families of whom we’re fully taking responsibility for their daily needs as indicated below:-

a.       The first family was identified one and half years ago. There is no parent-only the children were left after the parents perished of HIV/AIDS. The group has ensured that they have good shelter, clothing and food. They are now attending schools. Thank God the Government of Kenya initiated Free Primary Education (FPE).

b.      The second family was identified a few months ago and it has a Mother and children. The father had died of heavy alcoholic drinking. Unfortunately, he had sold all the land and only left a small piece for the house. When we encountered the family, the mother was seriously sick and had no Hope any more. She had despaired in life. Job 19: 10 “He breaks me down on every side, and I am gone; My Hope He has uprooted like a tree”. She never wanted to go to hospital for she believed in long gone witchcraft that is common in the area. We had to convince her by reading to her the word concerning Hope and repentance trying to convince her trust in what the Almighty is capable of doing. She accepted to go to hospital and was diagnosed of diabetic infections. She was treated and was discharged home after two weeks. While she was at the hospital, the group through a donation from a friend constructed a small house and fenced the compound for the family. So far, the family is back to its feet. Life and hope has been restored. Titus 2: 11-14 “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify Himself His own special people, Zealous for good work”. We decided to hire a piece of land in the neighborhood and planted maize for them. They have germinated and we hope there shall be good harvest come February next year. We also intend to enroll the children of the family in the neighboring school come next year. One of our friends has decided to support this family with $ 100 each month.

3.                  We have hired a small room where we’re operating from. The room costs us $ 20 each month. Within the room, we constructed a small Group library where we store our spiritual materials for group members borrowing. We now have a total of 9 Bible (NKJV) after each member acquired one copy each. We also have a few spiritual printouts that were sent by a brother who happened to know our group back. This is why we’re hereby requesting for as many spiritual materials as possible to enable us improve our daily studies.

4.                  Through understanding and humbleness from one friend, I have managed to get computers that operate a cyber café that supports the group in its daily running. Through the same friend, I have also acquired a car that operates Taxi services as well as assist us in the group’s daily errands. May God bless him and add Him a decade years to continue serving the Almighty. His love is of no count. John 15:13 “Greater Love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

5.                  Last year we happened to attend the World Health Day and ganged up with other volunteer groups in cleaning the Kisii Town Municipality. We also planted 20,000 trees in Cardinal Otunga Secondary school ground last year during an environmental day together with other institutions.

6.                  We have so far organized and attended to nine schools during Sunday’s services and have offered spiritual nourishment to them.
